Why We Fast

Fasting is the ancient practice of abstaining from food for a certain period. It is a spiritual discipline, the purpose of which is training to become more like Jesus. The motivation of our fasting is to draw closer to the heart of God. Fasting is a Christian discipline to break the power of the flesh in our life – our desires, sins, and cravings – and to feed on the Holy Spirit. Fasting is not about getting FROM God, but about getting TO God.

Prayer + Worship

"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name." (Psalm 100:4)

Take a moment to rest & relax in the presence of God (Mark 6:31; Matthew 11:28). Set your mind on Jesus, worshipping Him, praising him & thanking Him. Cast all of your cares & concerns on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

Begin to pray in the Holy Spirit, as God gives you the ability. If you do not have the Gift of the Holy Spirit, know that it is a free gift from God & a promise to you. God wants you to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ask Him. Wait on Him.

Let's Grow Together!

Statistics show that most people professing faith in Jesus have never completely read their Bible. Many people start reading the Bible but then become overwhelmed by the number of chapters (1,189) and verses (31,102) there are. What we don’t realize is that we can read the Bible in a year by reading fewer than four chapters a day.

By dividing the Bible into 365 daily readings, your goal of reading the Bible in a year can easily be accomplished.

We have gathered a great set of tools and resources to help you accomplish this goal. Click “Bible Gateway” or “YouVersion” below to start your daily Bible reading journey!
